South America Annual Review now available

By Caroline Watson |  30 March 2026

The South American construction equipment market has now entered a period of relative stability following the sharp corrections experienced after the pandemic-driven boom. After the record peak of nearly 65,000 units reached in 2022 and stabilizing thereafter, the construction equipment market remained broadly flat in 2025, with sales increasing by just 1 per cent to 53,889 units.

In monetary terms, the construction equipment market reached an estimated value of US$7.6 billion in 2025, with the regional distribution of this value highly concentrated. Brazil accounted for 69 per cent of total market value, or approximately US$5.2 billion, followed by Chile with 10 per cent, while Argentina and Peru each represent roughly 8 per cent of the market. Colombia ranks last among the five countries analysed, contributing 5 per cent of total regional value.

Off-Highway Research expects the South American construction equipment market to moderate over the next few years before returning to gradual growth towards the end of the decade. Total equipment sales are forecast to decline from 53,895 units in 2025 to approximately 49,507 units in 2028, before recovering to 51,783 units by 2030. Overall, this would represent a modest contraction of around 4 per cent over the 2025–2030 period, confirming that the region is moving into a phase of market normalization following the exceptionally strong demand recorded during the post-pandemic recovery.

The Annual Review provides in-depth analysis and sales forecasts by country, equipment type, production, international perspective and projected forecasts up to 2030, and is essential reading for companies active in South America, or those considering entering the market. The review is intended as a decision-making tool for manufacturers, distributors, rental companies, financial institutions, importers and all other stakeholders in the South American construction equipment sector.
