Outlook for dump trucks in China stays strong

By Chris Sleight |  25 September 2022

Despite sales of most types of construction equipment in China collapsing in 2022, the dump truck  market is expected to grow by some 10 per cent thanks to a buoyant mining industry. Sales have picked up from the low point seen in 2019, and this year is expected to see some 360 dump trucks sold – mostly rigid frame machines.

Off-Highway Research’s new report, The Dump Truck Industry in China said, “Demand from the major coalmines and metal ore mines will play a vital roles in maintaining the level of demand.”

However, the report noted that significant fleet growth was unlikely over the medium term. The study also discusses the impact of the forthcoming China IV engine emission regulations, and the effect these might have in encouraging the use of alternative energy in the segment.
