French crawler excavator sales to stay on a high

By Chris Sleight |  5 December 2019

Demand for crawler excavators above 6 tonnes in France has surged over the last three years, with sales reaching almost 4,500 units in 2018. Volumes are expected to be sustained around this level for the next five years thanks to a pipeline of infrastructure work and housebuilding.

Off-Highway Research’s new study on the crawler excavator industry in France said, “The French market for crawler excavators has been growing over the last three to four years, and demand has been driven by government measurements such as the “Macron law” and the strategic infrastructure projects of “Grand Paris” and “Canal Seine-Nord”. The impact of low interest rates has greatly affected the construction sector and increased confidence amongst buyers of construction equipment to renew their fleets. In addition, public investment has been growing since 2017.”

The study on crawler excavators represents an expansion of the range of studies being offered by Off-Highway Research. Previously a single report on hydraulic excavators was published, encompassing both wheeled and crawler machines. However, in order to provide more detailed analysis of the markets for both types of equipment, Off-Highway Research will now publish separate studies on crawler and wheeled machines. This change will also be roll-out to our coverage of the German and UK markets.

The report can also be bought as a stand-alone publication by non-subscribers. Click here for more details or contact [email protected] to enquire about a subscription.
