Better health for Italian mini excavator market

By Chris Sleight |  29 April 2020

In not much more than the past decade mini excavator sales in Italy have seen the best and the worst of times. First, the market peaked at record levels – 14,341 units sold in 2007 – before plunging, in the next six years, to levels not seen since 1993, when the market was first developing. Last year demand recovered to more than 10,000 machines, its highest since 2008.

The long period of weak sales has seen the population of mini excavators in Italy fall form the peak seen in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Although the population is growing again, it is still low in historic terms and this augers well for long-term growth.
